The following categories represent collections of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) surveys of UNI for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). The primary purposes of the surveys are to collect the basic data that identify's and describes the universe of postsecondary education institutions. Completions is UNI's prior academic year's collection of data on recognized degree completions by level and other formal awards by length of program.

Enrollment includes the number of UNI full and part-time students enrolled annually in the fall by level, race/ethnicity and gender of student and retention rates.

12 Month Enrollment is enrollment data for the entire 12 month year.

Finance includes UNI revenues by source, expenses by function, physical plant assets and indebtedness, and endowment investments.

Financial Aid is the number of full-time, first-time degree and certificate-seeking UNI undergraduate students receiving financial aid, the number of students receiving each type of financial assistance, and the average amount received by type.

Human Resources includes a variety of surveys of the employees at UNI and their assigned positions, salaries, hours worked, etc.

IPEDS, established as the core postsecondary education data collection program for NCES, is a system of survey components designed to collect data from all primary providers of postsecondary education. IPEDS is a single, comprehensive system designed to encompass all institutions and education organizations whose primary purpose is to provide postsecondary education. IPEDS is built around a series of interrelated components that collect institution-level data in such areas as enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty, staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid.
